About
About Sherpa Auto Transport
Sherpa was founded in 2017 by seasoned, successful entrepreneurs on a mission to transform the car shipping industry. Throughout several cross-country moves, our founders experienced how unreliable the industry can be. From dented bumpers to no-show drivers, we saw the worst out there and knew we could do better. Much better.

Published terms
-
Payment. Initial payment by card; the balance in cash or certified check to the carrier at delivery — or everything by card once a carrier is secured.
“We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.” — sherpaautotransport.com/faqs
-
Deposit. Nothing at booking; a card goes on file and the initial payment, which depends on mileage and service type, is charged once a carrier is secured. We couldn't find a fixed amount.
“Nothing is due at time of booking.” — sherpaautotransport.com/faqs
-
Cancellation. $50 before a carrier is assigned; after that, the initial payment; no cancellation after pickup. Fees are waived if no carrier is found within the pickup window plus a 14-day extension.
“If you cancel prior to the assignment of a carrier you will be charged a $50 dispatch fee.” — sherpaautotransport.com/faqs
-
Damage claims. In writing to the carrier within 7 days of delivery.
“All claims for damage caused by transport must be submitted in writing to the Carrier within seven (7) days of delivery.” — sherpaautotransport.com/terms-of-service
- Fits
- Unusual vehicles and destinations — EVs, motorcycles, RVs and oversized vehicles, plus Alaska and Hawaii.
- Not ideal for
- Anyone in a hurry on the standard service — the estimated pickup window is 5 business days.
- Worth knowing
- Under its Price Lock Promise, Sherpa says it will put up to $300 of the initial payment toward the carrier if the quote isn't enough to book one.
- If no carrier is found in the pickup window, Sherpa keeps looking for 14 more days, and cancelling in that time is free.
- Ask before booking
- Your initial payment amount — it depends on mileage and service type.
