Published terms

• Payment. Any balance at delivery is paid in cash, money order or cashier's check. Paying in full by card at booking adds a 5% service charge.

• Cancellation. Full deposit refund if no carrier is confirmed within five days of your first available date. Cancelling before then, for any reason, forfeits the deposit. Email only.

• Damage claims. Claims are handled by the carrier and can take a few weeks. We couldn't find a filing deadline.

Fits

Customers with flexible dates — AutoStar gets five days from your first available date to assign a carrier, and refunds the deposit if it can't.

Not ideal for

Anyone with fixed dates — the terms say there are no guaranteed pickup or delivery dates.

Worth knowing

• Cancelling before that five-day window ends forfeits the deposit, even if no carrier has been found yet.
• If a carrier is assigned and the car can't be picked up, $200 is charged to your card.
• Cancellations by phone aren't honored — email only.
